A Sedgefield woman has won recognition for the selfless work she performs in the local community. Anna-Marie Smit moved to Sedgefield 11 years ago after her husband passed away, and says that "I started getting bored just reading or watching TV, so this keeps me busy."

"This" is the donation of hot water bottle covers (as well as the bottles themselves), bed socks and knee blankets that she has crocheted; and has won her a weekend away from the Pass It On initiative. The initiative was started by Six Degrees Media, which accepts nominations on their website (www.passiton.co.za) for indivi-duals who selflessly devote their time to the betterment of the world.

Pass It On then rewards the top nominated individuals with a prize from affiliated business partners, and in this case contacted Anna-Marie two weeks ago to inform her that she had won a weekend away.
